Description
We strive to visit some of the most remote and untouched parts of this planet. This requires us to be completely self-sufficient for all our needs, most importantly managing and storing all our own power.
While we installed solar panels on Indioko’s roof and dinghy davits in the Caribbean in 2021, we have seen several of them fail over the last few months of tough sailing in the South Pacific. This means we can’t get our batteries charged up to last through the dark hours and on long passages, we are forced to run our ancient diesel generator to get the necessary power to keep navigation instruments and lighting powered on.
We plan to install four 580W Bi-Facial solar panels across the back of the boat where the dinghy is stored. Combined with the necessary electronics, we should be able to fully charge Indioko’s batteries every day and give our diesel generator a rest.
