You have seen us tear our hair out from the very beginning when we built our watermaker from off the shelf components in an effort have a reliable and resilient system we could fix anywhere.

Well, after our recent attempts to replace the membranes at great expense, we have found that the system just isn’t up to the task anymore. Technology has moved on and we are burning more than double the electrical power of a modern watermaker solution.

At our recent visit to METS in Amsterdam, we were introduced to a brilliant young guy who has himself sailed around the world and faced many of the same challenges we have. Now that he has returned to dry land, we wants to set about fixing those for the rest of us and has launched a brand new watermaker business. KYMA watermakers.

The key difference, he uses a special kind of pump that is not only significantly quieter than most on the market but also much more energy efficient meaning we would be able to make water all day long without worrying for our power supply over night.

We can’t wait to get this installed and tested as it will change the way we live out there in the blue and at anchor.
