A Sailing Holiday Like No Other

How to get out on the water

If you haven’t yet found your perfect sailboat, there are still a number of ways you can experience time out on the water, from joining your local yacht club and helping out as crew to chartering a vessel on holiday for that summer vibe. Or you can sign up to the Odyssey Sailing Festival, a flotilla week in various locations around the world where people of all ages and backgrounds come together for an incredible taste of life on the water.

A different kind of flotilla holiday

Every boat in the festival is skippered by a “famous” sailing YouTuber or sailing celebrity. Think Captain Glenn from Below Deck, world record holder Laura Dekker, or Lauren Landers – a solo sailor documenting her travels on YouTube – among others.

Hosted by Andy H from the Ocean Cruisers Podcast, the Odyssey Sailing Festival is an opportunity for likeminded people to get together alongside the sailors they admire and follow online. If you fell in love with the art of sailing by watching the documentary Women and the Wind, you could join Kiana’s boat (and revel in the luxuries of hot water and AC that she chooses to live without on her wooden Wharram catamaran, Mara Noka). If you’ve been inspired by the hard work it takes to refit a boat, you could jump onboard with Raf and Sascha from Spear It Animal, or pick the brains of global cruisers Warren and Erica from WE|Sail or Iain and Brioni from Red Seas.
