One of the design features of our boat is the position of a long track that is mounted to the starboard side of our saloon ceiling. This track is where our genoa sheet attaches to the boat and when we sail, a huge amount of pulling power is fed along that track and down to our winch.

The area beneath this track has suffered from serious water damage and the fibreglass needs to be replaced. It’s a tough job, working overhead to remove the glassed core and layer up new foam and glass before re-attaching the ceiling panels in the saloon.

We have gotten away with it so far but at any moment the genoa sheet could rip open our saloon like a tin of catfood and leave us stranded in the water and wide open to the elements.
